Health Work and Wellbeing Challenge Fund

Are you part of a small to medium sized business (less than 249 employees) that has been established for 2 years or more? If so you may be able to access some funding to help you develop a health and wellbeing programme for your employees!

The Health Work and Wellbeing Challenge Fund is a grant scheme of £4million available over two years from the Department for Work and Pensions. It is a competitive scheme to fund innovative projects that improve employees' health and welfare at work and is aimed at local partnerships and small and medium sized businesses based, and trading in Great Britain.

The Department for Work and Pensions is now seeking expressions of interest from companies who have identified a problem that is affecting the health and welfare of their employees and have a proposal to improve this problem. The proposal must be for a new project as they will not fund existing projects and businesses must have been established for at least two years.

They are looking for innovative proposals that improve occupational health and welfare at work and their website states that Projects to improve mental wellbeing in small businesses will be a priority.

This is a competitive scheme so not all applications will receive funding, but it is certainly worth a go!

The deadline for expressions of interest for the first round of funding is December 31st 2009. This isn't very far away (especially if Christmas is a busy time of year for your company)!

In order to have a chance of receiving a grant in the first round of funding you will need to complete an expression of interest form with details about your company and the project you would like to do ASAP. If you meet the criteria for funding you will be sent a full application form.
