Lovely & Healthy News
The Apple Tree Blooms Again!
The latest edition of the Apple Tree is now available to download. With a great range of articles, from health issues to urban surf, it's definately worth a read!

In the News
Lovely and Healthy have been offered the exciting opportunity to appear in the HR and Training Journal (Issue 4). This is the main information portal for the public sector, regarding employee wellbeing. We were asked to write a piece for this publication after successfully working with several public sector organisations as well as other companies.
We will be featured in two articles, addressing the problems in the working age population and highlighting cost effective solutions available for businesses. We appear alongside an interview with Dame Carol Black, summarizing her review 'Working for a Healthier Tomorrow'. This looks at the health of the working age population and suggests a framework for improvement. In addition to this, we have also been asked to submit editorial content on the subject of stress at work and the benefits of exercise and nutrition interventions.
The issue will be available to read online from October and the article can be viewed in October by following this link and scroll down to the archive and Issue 4.
Urban Surf is launched nationwide by Lovely and Healthy 11/8/2008
Surfing is a fashionable and fun sport, which is a great workout for the whole body. However, traditionally it was only available to those privilaged few with access to the sea waves. Until now!
Lovely and Healthy has launched a brand new exercise class, which aims to bring surfing into the office, school and home. Combining a range of moves and exercises needed in traditional surfing, Urban Surf is a great way to stay in shape, reduce stress and have fun.
Working with the Ollypop towel, we teach from the basic 'pop-up' (jumping from your stomach to standing) through to advanced level simulations of the waves.Accompanied by a summer soundtrack, you'll be able to hear the waves!
Feedback from our first bookings have been 100% positive with all attendees at Clinphone group saying they would return to similar exercise classes, and recommend them to a friend.
For more infomation, download our Urban Surf Booklet
for some basic moves and exercises involved in our classes. Also check out the Ollypop website, for some cool product infomation and surfing news.
To book your Urban Surf class, contact Lovely and Healthy on 0121 288 3396 or send an email to enquiry@lovelyandhealthy.co.uk
Lovely & Healthy will be working in association with Esporta health clubs from July 2008.
From July 2008 we will be working with Esporta in Lichfield to offer a host of new services and bennefits for members and some exciting new corporate packages for local businesses. Esporta have some amazing facilities to offer including professional training programmes, indoor & outdoor swimming pools, spa, sauna & steam rooms, over 70 studio classes offering a variety of group exercise sessions, activities for children from 12 weeks -17 years old, 4 outdoor tennis courts, restaurant, health and beauty and much more!
Wouldn't it be nice to finish work and go for a swim in an outdoor pool or sit and relax in a warm spa, especially if finishing 'work' meant that you'd just enjoyed a productive meeting in costa coffee helped by the pool view and free wifi access! Rather than dash off and get stuck in rush hour traffic you could try some of the healthy options in the Esporta restaurant and socialise with family, friends and colleagues.
Dame Carol Black's review of the health of Britain's working age population entitled 'Working for a healthier tomorrow' is the first ever review of its kind. The document was presented to the Secretaries of State for Health and for Work and Pensions, Alan Johnson and James Purnell on 17th March 2008 and highlighted topics such as how to improve health and wellbeing in the workplace and the scale of the sickness absence problem in Britain recently referred to in the media as 'sick-note Britain'.
