Meet the team

Nikki has a degree in IT and regularly puts these skills to use with all things technical at the Lovely & Healthy Head Office.

Nikki says "It has been wonderful being part of Lovely & Healthy from the very beginning, I have really enjoyed being involved with the Company and seeing it go from strength to strength and I am looking forward to even more exciting times ahead. The topic of wellness is gathering momentum every day in the media and there is now a wealth of statistics and reports to strengthen the business case for organisations investing in the health and wellbeing of their employees. We love coming up with new and innovative ways to engage UK businesses in the importance of establishing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle for their staff. It's safe to say I love my job and I know the work we do is helping others which makes it even better!"

Jo Baker, Managing Director

Jo Bakerr Jo is currently managing an exciting new programme called 'Active @ Work' on behalf of Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, with funding from Sport England's Community Investment Fund. The role of Project Manager keeps her very busy but she also finds time to support Nikki (Operations Director) and the rest of the team at Lovely & Healthy!

Jo founded the business is 2006 taking inspiration from her time at Birmingham University studying for a BSc (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Science (2000-2003). Jo describes the history behind Lovely & Healthy here:

"After graduating I worked for several public and private sector organisations in customer services, marketing and events management. I enjoyed my work but I really missed the work-life balance I had enjoyed throughout my years in education where I made the most of the opportunities available to pursue my hobbies and stay active. My desk job at the time meant that I had become quite sedentary and I started to feel quite tired, unfit and stressed. After talking to some friends about wanting to change my lifestyle I started to cycle to work and trained for a half marathon. Colleagues kept commenting on how much energy I had and how well I looked and before long I had people asking me to help them improve their lifestyles too. I took out a career development loan and used my evenings and weekends to gain qualifications in Gym Instructing, Personal Training, Nutrition and Weight Management, and Exercise Referral.

After lots of planning and market research I started my business in 2006 with the aim of helping people in the workplace to improve their lifestyle and prioritise their health. In the first year of trading I worked with employees from GAP, Dairy Crest, and BT and piloted a range of health and wellbeing initiatives from onsite exercise classes, to health checks and nutrition workshops. The feedback from employees was great and I began to get approached by other organisations to help them work with their employees to improve morale, reduce sickness absence, increase productivity and manage stress.

Since then Lovely & Healthy has gone from strength to strength working with a diverse range of public, private and voluntary sector organisations including: Pepsico International UK & Ireland, Kraft Foods, Staffordshire County Council, Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service and St Georges Hospital, London. The business now employs 3 full time members of staff and provides regular work for self employed professionals across the UK.

I am very proud of what we have achieved as a team so far and look forward to seeing the company continue to thrive whilst helping others to improve their health and wellbeing."

Health affects a large proportion of your life and a healthy body provides a healthy mind.
